Target Audience/Marketing Strategy: Central Intelligence

The movie Central Intelligence took advantage of the size difference of the two stars. (Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart) They highlighted it in their promotional posters. One of them featuring a photo of the two together and it read "Saving the World Takes a little Hart and a big Johnson." Their size difference is also emphasized in their teaser trailer. The teaser had lots of  unanswered questions and left fans hanging. They then released another trailer that provided a backstory for the characters. This built anticipation for the upcoming film. The film also had its own interactive website. On the site there were quizzes, games and other activities. This helped get fans involved in the film before it even released.

Target Audience/Marketing Strategy: Deadpool

Deadpool is one of the highest rated R-rated movies in history. It is said that Deadpool "broke all of the rules of marketing." One of the ways they advertised was through the use of billboards. The one that caught the most attention was one that featured a skull emoji, a poop emoji and the letter L. When viewing it in person it reads Dead-Poo-L. This was an obvious attention grabber and definitely had people talking about the film. Another thing they did was create a fake advertisement and marketed it as a romantic movie. Now this was a joke and they weren't actually trying to convince people it was a romance film however, it was a comedic way to market. Many other strategies were used for this film such as, creating Deadpool a Tinder profile, an appearance on Extra, and a Deadpool takeover on MTV and VH1 where Deadpool was advertised for 3 straight hours. There were a number of other strategies used that aided in the promotion of the film.

The Deadpool film is targeted towards adults because of its R rating. They also reached a broader group of people because it's not just a geeky superhero movie but it is also comedic.

Target Audience/Marketing Strategy: The Dark Knight

42 Entertainment used cross media convergence for their marketing strategy. Prior to the release of the film they launched an iconic marketing campaign. They started with the introduction of Alternate Reality Gaming. They used newspapers, social media, and even gave audiences rewards for playing the game. 42 Entertainment created 30 different websites to give their fans clues and locations for the game. They even created a fake newspaper called The Gotham Times to distribute information. There were interactive experiences at Comic-con that included calls from characters and participating in different campaigns. There were 10 million viewers who participated.

By creating this huge campaign, 42 Entertainment was able to bring a lot of attention to their film. This also went on for a long time before the release of the movie, so it created a sense of anticipation. This allowed time for people to hear about the film, in turn, increasing their audience size.

The target audience for The Dark Knight would be teens and young adults who have read te comics and seen the previous Batman films.

Feedback/Revisions

After presenting our project to the class we got some feedback. One thing that as a mistake on our part was not having credits, we completely forgot about it because we were so focused on editing our final video. Another thing they mentioned was background noise. We tried to edit out the noise a little but weren't sure exactly how to but we will discuss with our peers and maybe seek help for that. Because of time constraints we weren't able to add in everything we had liked to our original film. We decided that we would re-film the entire thing in order to make sure we have the best end product. We will make edits to our script as well.

Conventions/Social Groups

Typically what is seen in comedy films are people who obviously have a natural chemistry. By using people who are already friends we had that aspect in our film. Also, we were a little different than most by incorporating jokes dealing with sexuality.

The main social group represented in our film was teenage boys. We explored the process that teens go through when trying to find themselves and learning right from wrong.
